@goliathliftzz: Bill Kazmaier was an absolute force of nature. Not only did he win worlds strongest man, but he did so 3x. From 1980 to 1982, Kaz was dominating strongman while also proving himself as one of the strongest powerlifters in the world. Records were falling, titles were stacking up, and he had started calling himself the strongest man alive (with fucking justice to it goddamn) Then 1983 came around and the defending champion wasn’t invited back. Kazmaier believed his dominance was the reason. The competition had become predictable, and giving someone else a chance to win would make for a better show. But that explanation has never been definitively proven. There were other theories involving disputes behind the scenes and the direction World’s Strongest Man wanted to take. What makes the story even more interesting is that Kaz didn’t suddenly stop being elite. When you love the sport, no federation or competition will get in the way of progress! That same year, he went back to powerlifting and won the IPF World Championship. Five years later, when he finally returned to World’s Strongest Man and finished 2nd! So was Bill Kazmaier really kept away because he became too dominant? Or did the story become more legendary with time? #goliathliftzz #billkazmaier #worldstrongestman #bodybuildinghistory
