My first wife and I had been married 27 years when the Lord called her home. From 41 to 51 she/we fought colon cancer. When we found it, her colon had ruptured. I remember asking God to leave her here until our girls were grown. She died 2 weeks after our baby girl turned 20. Six months later I met my current wife. Where you ask? I to am a licensed funeral director/embalmer…so we obviously met at a funeral and started talking on a dating sight online. Eighteen months after my first wife had died I remarried. I think my children really have a hard time with it even though they don’t say much about it. We have been married 4 years now and get along great!!! I love her as much as my first wife and would have never dreamed it possible. Recently I have quit working full time to help take care of a head strong elderly parent. It in itself is a full time job, but I miss the day to day grind of funeral service.

Thank you so much, Eric. I lost my first husband at 46 in 1998 of a sleep apnea related stroke. In 2009 I married a young man I had known since I was 5. I always said I would never remarry, but I did. He passed in 2024 at the age of 71 from complications of diabetes. Your talk was affirming with the three lessons. I’m 74 now.

I know someone who was VERY close to his wife. She died of glioblastoma 18 months ago. 9 months after her passing the husband found a girlfriend 🙏
