Lisa’s eyes hardened. “Fine.” She stepped closer. “You came back with a boyfriend. You act like nothing happened. You look at me like I’m still the same person who used to follow you everywhere.” Jennie went quiet. “And then you get jealous whenever someone gets close to me.” Jennie’s jaw tightened. “That’s not—” “It is.” Lisa’s voice cracked. “You don’t get to be jealous, Jennie.” Silence. “Not after all these years.” Jennie stared at her. “Why are you making this sound like I did something to you?” Lisa’s eyes filled with anger. “Because you did.” ⸻ Jennie’s expression changed. “What did I do?” Lisa laughed softly. “You really don’t remember?” “No.” “Of course you don’t.” Lisa looked away. “The night before you left, I waited for you.” Jennie froze. “I was at the airport.” “So was I.” Lisa’s eyes snapped back to hers. “What?” “I waited for you.” Jennie shook her head. “That’s impossible.” “I sat there until my parents made me leave.” Lisa stared at her. “I was there too.” Neither spoke. Jennie felt her chest tighten. “Then why didn’t I see you?” “I don’t know.” “Who told you I wasn’t coming?” Lisa hesitated. “My mother.” Jennie’s eyes narrowed. “What did she say?” “That your flight had already left.” Jennie went completely still. “My mother told me you weren’t coming.” Lisa’s expression changed. “What?” “She said you didn’t want to say goodbye.” Lisa took a step back. “I never said that.” Jennie’s voice dropped. “Neither did I.” They stared at each other. Years of anger suddenly felt unstable. Like everything they’d believed was built on one lie. Lisa’s eyes watered. “I thought you left without caring.” Jennie swallowed. “I thought you didn’t want me to come back.” Lisa looked away. “And all these years…” Jennie finished quietly. “…we hated each other for something neither of us did.” ⸻ Neither knew what to say after that. Jennie stepped closer. “Lisa.” Lisa looked at her. “I never forgot you.” Lisa’s eyes softened. “Then why didn’t you come back sooner?” Jennie had no answer. Because the truth was painful. She had been hurt too. She had convinced herself that Lisa had moved on. That Lisa had forgotten her. That coming back would only reopen something she’d buried. But now she knew. They had both been waiting. Just in different ways. Lisa wiped her tears quickly. “We can’t fix ten years in one conversation.” “I know.” “And you still have Taehyung.” Jennie went quiet. Lisa gave her a small smile. “That’s something you need to figure out.” She walked away. Jennie watched her go. For once, she didn’t stop her. Because Lisa was right.
