Optometrist here! Just to add to all the eye facts - because the pupil is just a hole, the eye is the only place in the body you can see active blood vessels without cutting anything open! We can also see individual red blood cells flowing within the vessels over the white part of the eye when we look behind our slit lamp microscope. The eyes are so freaking cool in many ways :)
