Neurotypicals seems to give themselves more grace when they're being rude, while they treat us like we kicked a puppy when we are accidentally rude. At least that's from my own experience.

while we’re on this topic those “autistic people are so rude even though they can 100% learn to be polite. they just don’t want to 🙄🙄” videos make me feel so bad. im autistic and ive been practicing masking as well as possible for years and ive always tried to learn what neurotypical people find polite so i can try my best to be kind and make others comfortable but i can never get it perfect, i still get accused of being rude and/or sarcastic. also yes, i get what people mean when they say autistic people can learn not to say things like “i don’t like your new haircut”, “i don’t like your outfit”, etc but im not talking about obvious things like that 😭

I speak better and generally get more laughs than neurotypical. I mask super well and try to be polite but you better believe no one shows up to my parties or invites me. The minute the sniff it out it’s all over. Even those of us who are capable in social settings and appear “normal”

this is refreshing to see because I got that video on my fyp, the comments were so weird and lowkey ableist. when i was a child i wasn’t rude, in fact i was overly friendly and took “treat people the way you want to be treated” so seriously. people bullied me regardless, even some teachers. that didn’t change when i got a job either 😭😭
