Tsontso, 38, was far more than a runner. She was a devoted mother to her eight-year-old daughter, a centre manager at Festival Mall in Kempton Park, a churchgoer and choir member of the Zion Christian Church, and the person her family called “the glue” that held them together. She preferred the quiet of home, except when she was out jogging or taking part in races, the activity that brought her the greatest joy. Friends and fellow runners remember her as vibrant and committed, someone who made time for the sport she loved after work and who sometimes joined others on the road. She was one of several women found dead in the area in recent months, a series of cases that has left the community and the running world deeply shaken. Fellow athletes have spoken of the fear that now accompanies a sport meant to bring health and freedom.
