They confirmed that buddy was based off of a certain someone in office, so with that in mind I think buddys actions make a lot of sense. It’s definitely very uncomfortable to watch, but that was kind of the intent of that scene.

I mean, the SA scene was to show how disgusting Buddy was, to draw attention to the fact that adults aren't even safe around him, even when they're new because he can just replace them easily, the scene snapped Grace out of trusting him which is what led to her recognizing Freddy and giving her good advice, and it showed how rejection sensitive Buddy is and how his temper has a hair trigger. Legit he probably would've killed her if he didn't have the kids to catch, for pushing him away, which draws further parallels to how men in power treat women in the workplace.

For what this movie is supposed to represent, this scene is basically making some implications more obvious, and that’s why it’s necessary, and psychological fear adds so much discomfort to it which is necessary.

I saw someone point out how it also helps cement that Buddy is an adult who is doing all this, bc a lot of mascot horror recently has been "the mascot is a dead kid/confused spirit lashing out" and that scene was saying "no, Buddy is an adult who fully knows what he's doing and doesn't care/likes it"

Also, it’s the first time in the movie that he drops the façade in front of somebody. The silence he gave Grace, just the immediate demeanor change, was the only time I thought he was actually scary.
