I don’t think Aang (more so than Toph, ) was a bad parent. The way his children described him was never in the same kind of neglectfulness that was attributed to Toph. They did not say he couldn’t punish them that they could get away with anything that they didn’t get any attention from him as is the case with Toph and her daughter daughters so while I may not like it, I understand why people see her more so as a bad parent. Aang on the other hand is not described as never being present never caring he has described as putting more attention to tenzion that he did his other children. But we also get moments where Kya was able to come out to him specifically about liking Girls, and he was very welcoming and opening to her. That to me doesn’t describe a father that was unloving or so bad to the point his kids never felt safety in him, Lin did not feel a sense of safety with Toph that Aangs children did have with him. I think people want parents to be perfect and very much confused their flaws with being borderline abusive and or the worst type types of parents that could ever exist when in reality they are just people and people sometimes hurt other people because they haven’t figured things out and being so black-and-white with everybody isn’t gonna help a thing.

I don’t like how people say that they were bad parents. Aang didn’t know how to be a parent as he never had one and it’s normal for kids to talk about their parents. Toph didn’t want to be her parents and gave her kids TOO much freedom but that doesn’t mean she was a bad parent.
