It’s not ai that’s doing this, it’s the millions of people thinking computer science is a cheat code for getting rich. No passion or love for CS, just trying to make money.

It’s not even because of AI, it’s because most tech jobs get off-shored to countries where the pay for an employee is significantly less

as a swe, dont study software. if you want to do tech do hardware, or do medicine. ai will be able to one shot software, the skill simply will lose its value

i dont think this is just because of AI or the job market being bad, its regular people going into computer science without having the problem solving skills or passion to keep them growing and learning, they chose computer science because they heard the jobs pay well and thats it

Sources: NY Fed (unemployment by major, recent grads 22-27). Indeed Hiring Lab, July 2026 (entry level 4.5% vs senior 69.3% of software postings). Handshake, Class of 2026 CS Spotlight (1st → 9th, 70% pessimistic). SignalFire (big tech new grad hiring). All free, all searchable. To be precise: these are US numbers about new grads, not the whole field. CS isn't dead. Senior demand is high - the 69.3% proves it. The entry door is just small right now, and the future is definitely questionable with Al. I'm not saying quit, and I'm not selling anything - no course, no cohort, no newsletter. I'm a second year CS major who graduates early into this same market, and I don't know how it ends for me any more than you do. I posted these numbers because they're why I feel cooked, not because I have the answer. I'm building apps and posting what actually happens, including when it doesn't work.

CS was never about coding guys! My professors were always telling me coding is just a tool our job is to solve problems... So the jobs where you task is just to code is what AI is replacing.

not really that hard to land a job, but you gotta play it smart, you wanna work in cyber security? start as a technical support engineer, climb the ladder. a single course or a degree can't land you a job that pays 200k a year
