Marsha Blackburn has rejected Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerri Green’s challenge to a series of debates ahead of Tennessee’s midterm election. While Green has previously voiced a debate challenge to Blackburn, this marks the first formal invitation with a series of dates.In a letter addressing Blackburn, Green pointed to a column written by Blackburn in 2024 in which Blackburn herself spoke of the importance of public forums. “I have already held 170+ public town halls in every corner of our state, and the question that comes up at every single stop is: ‘When will Marsha debate you?’ Voters deserve to hear directly from those seeking to represent them: face-to-face, without pre-screened questions,” Green said. “If you can’t take the questions, you don’t have the answers.” Green’s campaign proposed four dates for the two gubernatorial frontrunners to participate in debates across Tennessee: Sept. 30 in Brentwood Oct. 3 in Nashville Oct. 9 in Memphis Oct. 16 in Knoxville If none of those dates would work for Blackburn, Green’s team said they are open to her naming “any alternative time and place of her choosing.” #marshablackburn #news #election #politicstiktok
