as someone who grew up with parents that did not put each other first: i watched my mother undermine my father thru every ruling ( he worked she stayed at home) he believed we were following rules he placed that he believed his wife was implementing. overtime watching her undermine him allowed us to believe we didn’t really have to listen. so we didn’t, and we overused resources with no respect for where they came from. overtime, my father got fed up with not having a partner to support him and it caused them to have a marriage where “ they’re together for the kids “ but should not have been. not only has that effected me with just regular things growing up, but being in a relationship and not leaving as soon as i did because of believing in the potential bc i watched my father believed in the potential of my mother. the whole idea of this is that you two should be PARTNERS first, and everything will follow

From a balanced perspective, ranking family members can feel problematic because everyone’s role is uniquely important and all human lives have equal worth. Since priority depends entirely on the specific situation, she likely just needed more context to give you a real answer. What did you mean to get at with that question? In my family dynamic there is no hierarchy between my husband and children, I didn’t see the original video, but from the context of this one it sound as though you’re asking a twitter question "who gets to eat first." Type situation, in which case I would respond we eat together, nobody "eats first.”
