Why not stem pipes on returns?

Easier just to use a 2’- 1.5”pvc pipe with a barbed fitting on top and other end 1.5” male adapter into the skimmer. Its a closed system and works great. No multiple covers with holes needed. If there is a 2” access hole in skimmer than just add 2”reducer to 1.5” male/ female. Same concept. Can just get a winter insert front face cover for skimmer for blowouts to empty skimmer prior to blowing or just have customers have water down just below skimmer before arrival. Super simple.

I did basically the same thing years ago. I drilled hole in a Hayward lid and screwed in a compressor fitting

I just close the filter for the air lock when blowing out skimmer and main drain. Then close the diverter valve and recirculate for the returns.

if you got multiport on a lot of poles, you can put a barracuda fitting on go to backwash for the skimmers side and recirculate or filter for returns. Same with push pull valves.
