It made me so sad when I watched it. I just thought as a population we were farther along than this. And men will choose to view women’s disappointment in the ad as insecurity when in reality we just want to be respected as human beings.

women weren’t really taken seriously before though? had sydney sweeney not done that ad, misogyny in sports would still exist. this isn’t meant to defend that in any way, but the fact that women are completely attacking sydney sweeney for that ad is insane given that their justification for doing so is ultimately about how they want more respect for women 😭 like how is disrespecting a woman publicly achieving that? there was a point in time where things like female nudity or hyper-sexuality in media were about empowering women, & this attack on that ad feels like society hated that so much, everyone’s regressing back to puritan views & wanting women to have a more “respectable” image bc that’s the only way for women to move forward in sports or whatever (not dismantling patriarchy & attacking misogyny, which is the actual issue)
