It makes people assume that you are not smart or are not interested in what they are saying when in fact you are just processing it… it slows you down and I even found myself repeating to myself what they said in an effort to understand it fully ❤️

I’ve noticed this is happening more and more. I can hear someone talking to me, but I don’t actually hear what they are saying. It’s so frustrating and embarrassing having to ask someone to repeat themselves over and over.

my theory is that we're so busy "reading" the other person that we can't focus on the words they are saying because those are two very different areas of the brain that are being used.

This is so insightful. My medical team diagnosed this processing disorder with me at four years ago. I am a severe complex, PTSD. Patient. audio processing hearing aids have helped me tremendously.
