@thesapor: Beef & broccoli lo mein ✨🍜 my fav thing to make for dinner and it’s super easy to make! Beef - 1.5lbs of flank steak, thinly sliced - 2 tsp cornstarch - 1 tsp garlic paste - 1 tsp dark soy sauce - 1 tsp oyster sauce - 1 tsp garlic powder - 1/2 tsp white pepper - 1/2 tsp ginger paste - 1/2 tsp baking soda - Splash of rice wine vinegar (about 1/2 tsp) - Splash of shaoxing wine (about 1/2 tsp) - Salt to taste - Neutral oil (for cooking) Sauce - 1/2 cup chicken broth (or beef broth) - 4 tbsp oyster sauce - 1 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce - 1 tbsp soy sauce - 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp brown sugar - 6 garlic cloves, minced - 1/2 tsp msg - Splash of rice wine vinegar - Splash of shaoxing wine - Cornstarch slurry Lo Mein - 10oz lo mein noodles (I use Wel-Pac) - Drizzle of sesame oil (for noodles) - Broccoli - Shredded carrots - Sesame seeds for topping Instructions - Add the thinly sliced flank steak to a bowl with the cornstarch, garlic paste, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic powder, white pepper, ginger paste, baking soda, rice wine vinegar, Shaoxing wine, and salt. Mix well until the beef is evenly coated. Let marinate for 30-45 minutes. - In a bowl, whisk together the chicken or beef broth, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, MSG, rice wine vinegar, and Shaoxing wine. Set aside. - Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package directions. Drain well and toss with a drizzle of sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside. - Heat a large wok or skillet over high heat and add a little. Cook the beef in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding. Sear until browned and almost cooked through, about 2–3 minutes. Remove and set aside if necessary. - To the same wok add vegetables and cook until tender. Add lo mein noodles and toss until well combined. After mixing the noodles and vegetables add in the beef. - In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water until completely smooth. Give the prepared sauce a good stir, then whisk in the cornstarch slurry. - Pour in the sauce and toss everything together over medium-high to high heat tossing continuously for another 1–2 minutes, making sure the sauce coats the noodles, beef, and vegetables evenly. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a small splash of broth or noodle water. - Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot.
