Broke up with the love of my life over this. He is very emotionally intelligent, romantic, and kind in general. But he'd tell me he "didn't believe in gender roles" (wanting to split bills AND dates) which I would have been ok with if I wasn't taking on a majority of the domestic duties and handling things around the house.

if i didnt overcompensate, my past relationships wouldn't have made it past 3 months at most. The overcompensating extended it by 3 years instead. This is why im so hesitant of getting into a long term relationship again

I dated a guy who was simply inconsiderate. He didn’t consider my feelings, my schedule, and my wants. Every date was near his place doing what he wanted. So I sat him down & gave such a therapy speak “I feel” speech trying to explain my side & tell him I need him to be more considerate of me. A few weeks later he was back to exactly the same way. So I sat him down again and broke up with him. He was SHOCKED. Told me he wished I told him my feelings earlier. Like…. What was that talk we had literally four weeks ago?! 😂

when I hit my 30s I just stopped doing it and my long-term relationship instantly dissolved because apparently I changed and became always 'angry' when I was actually feeling happier and calmer with pulling back my energy into him and putting that into myself

In my experience, past a certain point in life, it’s very hard to find a man who will prioritize your comfort. Most are simply looking for a woman to make their life easier and so they can get their needs met. The men who aren’t like this usually find their partner early in life and stay married.
