Do you use an autoclave to sterilize your instruments? Or do you have another type of procedure?

I don't think whatever was on that trocar from the last guy is gonna hurt me if you ever have to use it on me, even if the only thing you did was wipe it clean on your apron 🤣

I’m confused why people would be upset that a funeral home reuses medical instruments…the person is dead….the next person isn’t going to catch something that the previous person had because they’re dead and they disinfect the instruments anyway 😅

This may be a really stupid question.. but if they’re deceased and there is no possibility of infection, why do you have to clean and disinfect it every time? Like obviously want to clean it but you know what I mean?

Surgical instruments are also reusable. As you mentioned, they are cleaned and sterilized between each use (I know you’re probably not worried about sterilization as much as disinfection).

Dental instruments are all used over and over and really, I mean it’s not like your patient is going to get an infection

Medical device engineer here 🙋🏻♀️pretty much any metal medical instrument is reusable. There are instructions provided to hospitals to properly disinfect, clean, and resterilize….but that’s why hospitals have entire central processing departments….

People complaining about medical equipment being cleaned, sanitized and reused, have obviously never seen Operating Room instruments (clamps, forceps, retractors & scalpel handles, etc) or watched shows about them and it shows.
