The trilogy is pretty meh in my opinion. But since you love Six of Crows, it's worth powering through these books so that you can read the King of Scars duology

Apparently I’m in the minority, because I absolutely devoured this trilogy. I understand not being able to connect with Alina she can come off a little flat, but the secondary characters like Nikolai, Zoya and Genya were the stars of these books for me!

I felt the same way- Couldn’t get into this trilogy like I wanted to, yet absolutely loved and devoured the Six of Crows duology. The world and magic systems are so interesting, but I couldn’t bring myself to truly care about a single character, which made it hard to pick up.

i'm going to say that I read the shadow and bone trilogy first before the six of crows duology and I am very glad I did it that way around. because I loved SaB but SoC was so incredible that the original trilogy must feel like a bit of a letdown in comparison

I read this trilogy a long time ago and…meh lol. I’m so glad I kept reading this author because I absolutely loved Six of Crows! I have read Ninth House and I really liked the first book so I think I’ll read the rest of that trilogy this fall
