On this Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary by meditating on the seven sorrows that pierced her heart. We stand with her, not in her glory but in her profound suffering, which united her so completely to the mission of her son. The first sorrow: the Prophecy of Simeon, a sword foretold, a heart destined for pain. The second sorrow the frantic flight into Egypt, a mother protecting her child from the shadow of death. The third sorrow the agonizing three-day loss of the boy Jesus in Jerusalem, a pain every parent fear. The fourth sorrow her meeting on the road to Calvary, seeing her Son battered, bleeding, and condemned. The fifth sorrow the ultimate agony, standing at the foot of the cross, witnessing his crucifixion and death. The sixth sorrow: the piercing moment she received his lifeless body into her arms. The seventh sorrow the heartache of laying him in the tomb. Through each of these seven sorrows, Mary's faith never faltered. She shows us that to love deeply is to be vulnerable to sorrow. Let us pray, Our Lady of Sorrows, you who bore every pain with unwavering strength. Teach us to carry our own crosses. Help us to unite our sufferings to yours and to your Son's, transforming our pain through love. Lead us, our Mother, through the passion and the tomb to the certain hope of the resurrection. Amen.
