Every once in a while, a dismissive avoidant video pops back up on my FYP. I’m officially 13 months out from an ex who is an avoidant. I spent years yo-yoing with this man. Giving everything of myself until I didn’t recognize me anymore. I didn’t think I was gonna survive the last discard. But I did. And now that I’m so far out I see so many things I couldn’t see when I was still emotionally in it. I allowed myself to become a doormat. I allowed him to throw me crumbs and then I turned those crumbs into a cookie all by myself. I did all of that. Fresh out of it I blamed him for everything. So far out now, I take responsibility for my part. I allowed it to continue. I believed words over actions. I believed I had power to change others. And it has been quite the journey learning that I was completely wrong. But, it was a powerful lesson and I will take it with me for the rest of my life. There won’t ever come another time where I let a man yo-yo me again. So, while I went through this pain with one person, I will never have to go through it again and that I am truly thankful for. I learned so much from the relationship that the bar is set so high now because I know I’m worth it. I didn’t know that before. I remind myself that if I could love that man as much as I did during everything he put me through, when I find the right one it’s gonna be epic. We do survive people like you. We get better in spite of you. We learn to love ourselves in spite of you, and in the end, we thrive without you.

my ex hated the Goodnight and good morning texts I said that's a bare minimum I don't have to hear from you all day except for those 2 times but still couldn't do it i don't want to be told what to do I stop putting in the effort and was asked what's up with me lol

I ended 23 years of "limbo" almost a week ago. I still have a lot to apologize to myself for but once I figured out why I was accepting it, something broke in the best way.

I wonder what the stupid avoidant that I got entangled with is thinking… he don’t text, I don’t text. I don’t chase I don’t beg, he distance himself, I distance more. And 4 to 6 weeks later he’s all cautious about how to approach me again. Even sending one of his friends to send me friend request.
