to be completely fair he didn't ask "who was justified in their pursuit of revenge", he asked who had the best revenge story, which could easily just refer to the plot's writing and not to the characters' morals. liking a story with violence isn't inherently a red flag imo.

My favorite two are both from FMAB. Roy Mustang's revenge on Envy will never not make me cheer and then weep. And Scar's revenge for his brother and people, while I don't agree with his methods, especially in the early parts of the story, him coming to realize who the true villains are and working together to take them down is amazing
