An 80 something year old veteran risked his life by making several trips back up into his company to escort 2700 people out. He always had a gut feeling after the bomb threat there in the 90s so he put in evac plans he guided those people down the stairs all while singing to try to make them feel better. I've seen videos of some jumpers trying to use their coats as parachute to create wind resistance. it's sad because they really wanted to live even for a small chance.

my uncle was a manager in one of the offices.. he had a Dentist appointment that day so he didnt come into work, his phone at home was blowing up with voicemails from his employees saying something is happening and the security guards wont let them out of the building. not a single one of his employees survived. He had to carry that weight with him till he passed 21 years later. That Dentist appointment saved his life.

I watched an interview, families are given the choice to be told when the entirety of someone is found or notified piece by piece, which is awful to type out for the first time. One woman said she recieved her husbands heart, it hadn’t occurred to her that his torso wouldn’t be whole.

my mom's car got towed in NYC in 2004... she went to the tow lot and causally joked that some of the cars had clearly been there for ages, due to the amount of dust on them. apparently the guy solemnly turned and informed her those cars were left behind in 9/11 and some of the dust on the cars were from the buildings themselves... she says it haunts her to this day

Those who tried taking the elevator reached the bottom basically cooked alive, witnesses said that when the door opened a bunch of skin blobs and bodies fell out. This happened because the jet fuel ran down the elevator shafts reaching the elevator and cooking those inside alive because of how hot it was
