How to Revive + Feed a Sourdough Starter From The Fridge Part 1: Step-by-Step Tutorial Strong, established starters are resilient! But…not every starter can be revived and this won’t work for everyone. You won’t know until you try. ⚠️ DISCLAIMER: If you see mold, fuzzy growth or pink/orange discoloration…throw it away. 📌 STEP BY STEP 1. Open the starter and pour off the dark liquid (hooch) from the top. 2. Scrape off the discolored top layer. 3. Take 5g of the lighter colored starter from the bottom of the jar and put it into a clean jar. 4. Feed 1:3:2 = 5g starter + 15g flour + 10g water 5. Cover and leave at room temp. for 24 hours. 6. Throw away the rest of the old starter. Now we wait and watch for signs of activity 🤞 This is specifically for an established starter that’s been unfed in the fridge for 6+ months.
