Every year i just go down deep rabbit holes about 9/11. I just sit and sob, feeling terrible despite being born 10 years later.

For me, it was standing in K-Mart, back by the TVs, listening to a panicked employee talking to her husband on the phone. He told her they said to stay put. She pointed on the tv showing another employee where her husband's office was. A minute later we watched the second plane crash right into the office as her call went dead. I still think about her more than once a week.

My mom was a flight attendant, she was supposed to be on one of the planes that flew into the towers. The flight attendant crew was switched but not the pilots. I spent six hours in high school thinking I lost her.

That was the first time I saw a grown man break down and wretch and scream. He's was a substitute teacher, his son worked in tower one. They wouldn't know for a few days that he made it out alive.

I said out loud in class. Look at all the paper falling. The kid in front of me turned around and said, that's not paper and turned around. And that's when I noticed we could see people jumping to their death. Live

I was working for the United Nations so we were evacuated immediately. I took the metro north home...every one in the train car I was in was covered in dust...the car was completely silent minus one woman who sniffled the whole ride...everyone else had the thousand yard stare. only about 4 of us were not covered in dust

The rumors. After all 4 planes went down, the rumors that it wasn’t over. I still remember knowing all the flights were grounded and I heard a military jet flying. It was so eerie

My mom was waiting for me to get ready for school. She turned on the TV and saw the first plane had hit and thought it was a movie. She changed the channel, and every channel was airing it so that’s when it dawned on her that it was real

Listening to the story that Roger from the Roger and JP show tell, how he was parked next to someone who he had said hi to for many years, not there that night when he picked up his car. That was heavy

I was 3 and have almost no memories of my childhood, but I vividly remember my grandparents watching the live broadcast. I thought it was one of their action movies. I remember trying to talk to them, and they hushed me, and it was then I realized how serious they looked. I remember not understanding what was happening, but being scared

We were listening to the news on the radio in science class. I was 11. This girl started laughing when the news mentioned the jumpers. I told asked her why that was funny to her?

I was in Japan on an Army base. It was in the middle of the night for us. I heard my parents upset and went to the top of the the stairs to see. I thought it was a movie on the TV till my father stepped out in full gear, frantically throwing his go bags in the hall way. he didnt know I was there, but turned away from my mother and the screen and began quietly crying. his sister worked in the towers. he would be deployed three months after that, and really that was the last time I saw my father. he came home, but it was never really him again.

Seeing large groups of completely silent people covered in ash walking up through lower Manhattan. Realizing people were jumping. The smell that lasted for months.

I Was 8 years old at the time (33 now). My dad was a fireman with LAFD & I thought “Oh cool a building fire” I was just a boy who assumed it was another fire on TV. I didn’t mean any harm by it. My mom knelt down and explained the situation to me and I remember feeling the seriousness in her saddened voice. Not long after we got a call from my dad who was on shift at the time and he said “They might be sending us downtown because they don’t know if LA will get hit and people might need my help” I didn’t realize until later he was calling to potentially say goodbye. Those two moments will never escape my memory of that day.

I was 6, I remember we all just came in and sat down after recess. Out of character my teacher wasn’t there and a bunch of first graders are all wondering where she is. She came in sobbing, unable to speak. Just sat in her chair and looked at all of us and lost it. We all got up slowly and huddled around her as she cried….. much much later we all learned she had family that worked in one of the towers. 😞

I was in the hospital after having my daughter. I’m a native New Yorker and just sat in disbelief. Every tv in the hospital was tuned in. I remember how quiet it was, quieter than lock down. No planes except for fighter jets scrambling. I lost 3 friends that day, one in the towers and 2 NYFD.
