@healing.through.chaos_: This workshop was at capacity, but I shot my shot in the comments and said that if anyone canceled, I would love to attend. Then DK, the Director of Community Engagement at New York Restoration Project, reached out and said she would make space for me. DK, thank you so much for making space for me. ❤️ I truly enjoyed being in the room. I enjoyed learning about the history of peppers, watching peppers become hot sauce, tasting the different hot sauces, and getting to experience something so hands-on in a community garden. And I even left with a red chili pepper and a mason jar to make my own hot sauce. But beyond everything I got to do, one part of the process really stayed with me: learning that peppers need time to ferment before they develop the flavor needed for hot sauce. It made me think about my own year and a half of being laid off. I’m so ready to get back to work, but I can’t deny that this process gave my creativity room to grow. Wellness Wherever came to life, and now it’s helping other people find joy, too. If I had skipped this process and rushed straight into another job, I might have missed what this season was creating, not just for me, but for other people, too. So if you’re in your own fermenting season, remember that the process is developing something you may not be able to see yet. Give yourself time. Your flavor is still being made Thank you, Scholes Street Children’s Community Garden and New York Restoration Project for a great time. #gardentok #gardening #wellnessjourney #peppers #MentalHealth
