@julietteamie: One of the most special things about travelling America 🇺🇸 The landscapes & regional cultures can feel worlds apart, but there’s always this shared cultural baseline underneath it all. Being able to travel thousands of miles, experience somewhere completely new, yet still connect with people over sports, where you live, what’s happening in the country & everyday life feels like such a luxury. The adventure of somewhere new with the familiarity of home 🫂✨

Boston to Bend is roughly the same distance as London to Baghdad!

It’s like finding rooms in your house you’ve never seen before! It’s still “home”, but with new rooms to explore. 😁

I genuinely love hearing Europeans come over and experiencing America in their own way. I really do live your take on it. No matter where you are here your still at home.

My thing is, it’s just different from living in a European country. Many of us travel exclusively within the U.S. for various reasons, but that doesn’t mean that we are deprived, it doesn’t mean we lack culture, it doesn’t mean we are stupid because we have not been to Europe (they don’t seem to mind if we have never been to Asia, or the Middle East, or wherever 🧐). We are just fine over here.

nahhh I get it. I moved out of AK for college and the only times ive really felt home sick is when I cant see the mountains. hawaii was beautiful but the ocean is vast and empty. Idaho is... interesting but flat. Maryland is cool but no real mountains. pnw feels safe.

I was raised in NJ, lived in NC for college, have been to FL a lot (4-6x per year for last 15 yrs), vacationed in SC & NC a bunch, went to NY, MA, VA, VT & ME several times, moved to AZ, then traveled to Alaska, OR, WA and CA lot for 7 yrs, then worked nationally & in Canada for years - I’ve been to 42 of our states. I’ve vacationed in western & eastern Mexico, Bahamas, US Virgin Islands & vacationed & worked in Canada (Quebec, Ontario & Vancouver) But somehow Europeans think that’s not being well traveled because I haven’t been over there. Ridiculous

I think it’s refreshing. I travelled a lot in Europe and was often frustrated by how often Europeans would reduce what the USA was to a couple of random things they’d seen on TV. But TBH the USA is so big that it also has tons of people that haven’t travelled enough to have much sense of how large and diverse our own country is.

As someone who was born in the US, this explanation makes so much sense and is such an accurate description. Thank you for putting that into words.

Also, you don’t have to worry about learning another language to travel. The whole country speaks fluent English. 😎🇺🇸

thank you for traveling the Pacific Northwest I think we are forgotten about a lot because people think oh California looks like this so Oregon and Washington must be the same.

No ma'am, now you see why many Americans dont leave our country. America has so much to offer. Enjoy your journey across our country. Do U.S. a favor and visit Canada as well.

Wherever you go, there is a CVS and a Burger King or whatever. Gas stations work the same. Currency the same.

One of the problems I have with the euros glazing America so much is that you have incredible landscapes in Europe, you have fjords, and the alps, and so much more

As an American, I really never thought of it like that. The comfort, knowing that I can visit vast lands and be under one country. Truly blessed.

actually, I'm glad on some level. at least coming there's knowledge. it's better than someone sitting at home/Europe, never having been here, and making statements that I am wrong about my own country and what I live day to day

Yeah, the major difference is if you live in Arizona and one day decide you want to live in Maine, you can do it and not have to tell anyone or ask permission from some government official… you just have to figure out the job and shelter situation

There’s a lot of America to see and there’s a lot of beauty for sure, but Bend is about the very best spot I’ve seen. Make sure you catch a concert while you’re there.

you are seeing the real reasons we all love our country so much. we know how blessed we are to live here. we are proud of what we're supposed to stand for, well, at least until the last decade or so. I hope you become citizens if that's what you want & I hope you'll always protect all these places that have moved you so with your vote!
