“You’re suffocating me because I keep accepting your invite to hang out but I actually don’t want to do it so it’s actually your fault and now I’m bringing it up to make you feel bad.”

As an avoidant, it’s your fault if you don’t communicate what you’re comfortable/uncomfortable with. Communication is a must in all relationships (not just romantic). If you’re not sure what you’re feeling but you know you’re uncomfortable, bring it up. Talk about it. The right partner will work with you, not against you. Exposure therapy will help.

they expect you to read their emotions and feelings because they refuse to acknowledge them for themselves 😳

The people who are disagreeing with this don’t seem to grasp the point; it’s not about the needing space, it’s the fact that they keep showing up/agreeing to hang out and making it the other person’s fault that they don’t say no to hanging out. It’s like hating something you wear everyday. Why keep doing it if you dislike it so much?

Hear me out though: you don’t always know you’re going to feel uncomfortable until you feel uncomfortable. I’m not an avoidant. Actually a pretty anxious gal whose recent ex was EXTREMELY avoidant. My new boyfriend and I spend nearly every day together. Last week I had to say “hey, I think spending so much time together is not good for me, I still need some alone time”. I wasn’t agreeing to hang out despite discomfort, I just had to figure out exactly why I was feeling off. Ik this is a skit, but this IS the “avoidant” communicating and asking for space and expressing what they’ve realized.

Coming from a secure attachment, hearing that I should “just know” was WIIIIILLLLLLDDD. Like no baby, I am not a mind reader and it doesn’t help that you’re faking every possible context clue I could use to make an inference about how you actually feel 😭

They will always assume you can read their mind and blame you for overstepping not communicated boundaries and blame you for not understanding
It seems to me that that person said I didn’t realize they was feeling this until I got to this tipping point and now I need to re-orient themsellf and that is a complete and reasonable response. For you to then go: “Well why didn’t you stop earlier?” They said I didn’t realize how much I felt like this until now! What part of them explaining themselves do you not want understand?

I know this supposed to be a negative view of avoidants but man does it show how annoying both extremes are

So if they don't spend enough time with them and say no to avoid this and then does the other person have an issue that they don't get enough time with avoidant? also this didn't even seem like an escalation. like they didn't know they were overextending until they started feeling over extended and communicated once they figured it out. the other person is asking how they can know it before they're told?????? but i don't think they necessarily would and shouldn't be concerned about predicting their feelings? i think it only escalated bc they kept questioning why they needed space?

avoidants are the most toxic and abusive people ive met
ive experience toxic sercure people
toxic anxious people
avoidants are the worst. and should heal their attachment style before getting in a relationship and hurting others and blaming thst person for the pain they caused.

then will have a bestfriend they act like they can’t go 3 hours without talking to. But cause the friend enables them and they don’t feel cornered and attacked by having to be held accountable they don’t “lose themselves”
