I’m only teaching 2 classes but depends on if it’s a week I’m grading essays or not. If not, like 2-3. If so, 20.

I don’t know about yall, but I’m doing the least. 😂 I want a life outside- I don’t work weekend and I don’t work after 5pm. I’m only on campus like 6 hours a week.

Sometimes I work 20 hours, other times 50-60. It all depends on the time of the sem. I do not work past 5 pm and on the weekends.

full prof at a SLAC here. I limit myself to 40 hrs per week. And I never take work home. I act my wage...

Think we saw the exact same Reddit post… the one about the person installing a projector to read in bed?? I have really busy weeks, and it feels like 50. Then I have low weeks, where I think it’s 20-30. However that doesn’t count the hours I THINK about stuff, when I’m driving/cleaning/cooking… but I rarely ever do a 10 hour day, and only when I have meetings I can’t say no to. And I have a huge service load

Can we know what the salaries for full time and for adjuncts are ?

Lecture 14 hours. I’d say 25 grading, reading, planning. I do NOT put unnecessary energy into my work anymore.

the job will absorb every hour you give it: I make sure to set a hard limit and stick to it each week, and it's under 40 hours. it helps that I'm more than a decade in and tenured

I teach 7 classes. 4 in person, 3 online. I am typically on campus from 7:30-12:30 M-Th. Grading varies depending on time of year. Sometimes it’s not too bad. Sometimes it feels like all I do is grade and respond to emails.

I worked a lot of hours last weekend. All weekend + most nights. I had a grant due and revisions for a textbook + teaching 240 students (one new course prep). I think I had about 15 hours of meetings :( I am guessing I did about 70+ hours. This coming week won't be like that, thank God.

When I was an assistant professor, I worked all the time; I was never not working. Now that I'm a full tenured prof, I work about 20 hours a week.

It varies so much but I would say during the semester on average 50

I don’t have research responsibilities as a non-tenure track clinical assistant professor - so… maybe 20-30 hours a week? It depends if I need to go out into the field and conduct observations or not. I definitely have “busy seasons” at the beginning of each semester because I create and publish all materials and assignments. The only thing I need to do once the semester really gets started is teach, grade, and respond to emails. And some small committee responsibilities here and there.

As a non-TT prof, I’d say something like 45-55 hours depending on the class preps, research, and grading. 😅

R1, been working with grad students since my second year on the TT. With rare exceptions (like book deadlines) I never work more than 40 hours a week

Before tenure and a baby, 50-55. After tenure and a baby, 35-40.

18. Adjunct. Copied my shells over from last semester with a few tweaks. Done and dusted. I will say, this is the best semester of students I’ve had in 5 years! So yay?

Total hours per week including teaching, office hours, any emails etc I put in 18-20h a week during the semester, none during breaks. Tenured.
