Met another Maori worker in the organisation I work for here in Australia. Turns out she went to school with my dad and his siblings and lived around the corner from their house growing up. She even knew my older sister was allergic to bees and got stung when she was a baby 🤯

Happened to me in the middle of Tokyo. A girl arrived at my hostel the day after me. Her mum was the ICU nurse caring for my uncle on a ventilator. Met her mum in Taranaki a week before flying out. Had a good chat with her. She told me her daughter was studying at Vic and a few other things. Managed to put 2 and 2 together and realised it was the girl that had walked into my hostel. Had a photo of her mum on my phone from the week before 🥹

This happened to me in Singapore, was in an elevator and the guy said my name in convo to his wife, I’ve never met someone else with my name so my ears picked up. Basically turned to him looking confused, thought he read my name tag on my suitcase but turned out my dad wanted him to prank my brother and I while we were coincidentally on the same flight home. Ended up face timing my dad on this random dudes phone in the middle of one of the malls there😭💀

Years ago while travelling through the Middle East I saw an islander in the distance wearing a warrior’s jersey and I had my all blacks jumper on.. we looked at each other and yelled hello like we were long lost friends 😂🤣 my group who were mostly American said “someone you know”? And I go, nah.. we’re just buzzing out that we’re both kiwi and all the way over here [Tears of joy]
