@kporter.stuff: A sleeping yo yo is a simple, visible demonstration of angular momentum and rotational kinetic energy, two concepts that are usually stuck on a whiteboard but are easy to see and feel in your hand with this toy. This video breaks down why spin stability keeps the yo yo upright while it sleeps, why friction at the axle is the only thing draining that stored energy, and how the shift from a fixed axle in old wooden yo yos to a low friction transaxle bearing in modern ones is the entire reason sleep time went from nearly zero to many seconds. 🙌🏼⚙️ #physics #mechanicalengineering #productdesign #engineeringtiktok #howthingswork

Fun facts: the word yo-yo comes from the Tagalog language. It roughly translates to “come back.” Modern yo-yos were an innovation of traditional yo-yos by a Filipino immigrant named Pedro Flores, using a looped string instead of a string tied tightly to its axle.

Man I love Yo-yos! The ones with ball bearings are the best!

A device I have used since a teenager is a stick air gauge. How does the plunger ‘know’ when to stop? I mean, I get the physics but I’m curious about the design.

Fun Fact as a kid I had the old fashion cannot spin yoyo, but if you slightly loosen the knot just enough you overcome the friction and it spins in place, then to get it to go back up just tug it upwards

This is not directly on point but I think you would find this interesting at the 30,000-foot level. Also maybe networking out to additional tutorial verticals? Thank you https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSqXUy4mX/
