SpongeBob is the greatest worker to ever exist and I will stand by that forever. You never see an entire city dependent on the labor-power of one man. Why do they always riot when he leaves the city? Is Squidward’s labor-power sufficient enough for Mr. Krabs to exploit it and extract surplus value? No. He NEEDS SpongeBob, Squidward NEEDS SpongeBob, that’s what makes Sponge’s labor so great for the capitalist. He won’t complain on the job or be lazy and take maybe 30 minutes to an hour to produce a Krabby patty like Squidward or Mr. Krabs whenever they run the grill, he’ll take the actual time to make it which is maybe 5-10 minutes even less sometimes, and he will do that for however long with the same consistent output. The city runs off of SpongeBob, he was the greatest proletarian Mr.Krabs had ever found, he is the magnum opus of Bikini Bottomites, the people don’t even like him as a person but they can acknowledge that his labor-power alone powers the entire economy. Mr Krabs wouldn’t make any profit from Squidward’s labor alone, he needs SpongeBob because SpongeBob is willing to take low or nonexistent wages so Krabs can exploit him and not have to pay him a decent wage. Squidward recognizes this and is very angered by this, which is why he is lazier and Mr Krabs is forced to pay him more (albeit not much more) Sponge is also naive, he will never realize that his labor is being exploited because he is content with it, he loves his labor. Poor Sponge.
