My theory is that he is the spoilt baby of his family. Given everything he wants, basically no one ever saying no to him and this is like the first time he is actually experiencing wanting and not getting it immediately. In the novel he did say he noticed Suzuki staring at him a lot so that made him think Suzuki liked him. He is a bit stalkerish but it was never outside the realm of what a high schooler would do. He never got suzuki's personal info outside of his name and the bls he's been reading
