@madison.blake65: The family of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez has filed a wrongful de*th lawsuit against singer D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, along with several people connected to him. Celeste was found d3ad last year inside a Tesla belonging to Burke. In April, the 21-year-old singer was charged with m*rder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains in connection with her passing. Burke has pleaded not guilty, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 19. Prosecutors allege Burke k!lled Celeste after she threatened to expose his alleged behavior and damage his career. Those allegations have not been proven in court. The lawsuit was filed Sept. 4 in Los Angeles County Superior Court by Celeste’s parents, Mercedes Martinez and Jesus Rivas Alvarado. It seeks damages from Burke as well as his mother, managers and a security guard. According to the lawsuit, the defendants allegedly knew or should have known about Burke’s inappropriate relationship with Celeste and failed to take reasonable steps to protect her, supervise Burke or prevent the alleged abuse. The suit also alleges that live-in security guard Sheldon Jacques helped transport Celeste. Burke’s management company, Mogul Vision, and finance manager Robert Mogenroth have denied knowing about Celeste, according to the Los Angeles Times. The family is also seeking damages related to alleged sexual abuse of a minor and negligence by Burke’s associates. The lawsuit comes shortly after Celeste’s family publicly called for Burke to receive the death penalty. Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman has not said whether prosecutors will seek that penalty. Burke remains accused of serious crimes, while the wrongful de*th claims against him and his associates will now play out in civil court.
