@madison.blake65: A Florida plastic surgeon is on trial for allegedly k!lling a missing attorney — and prosecutors say the evidence includes a so-called “m*rder bag” filled with disturbing items. Tomasz Kosowski, 47, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree mrder in the 2023 d3ath of attorney Steven Cozzi, 41. Prosecutors are seeking the deth penalty. Cozzi’s body has never been found. Prosecutors allege that Kosowski ambushed Cozzi inside the communal bathroom of his law firm, then placed his body in a wagon and transported it to a waiting truck. Prosecutors say Kosowski had been involved in a bitter civil dispute with clients represented by Cozzi. Cellphone records allegedly placed Kosowski’s phone on the law firm’s Wi-Fi on days when he had no reason to be there. A maintenance worker also reportedly saw a masked man peeking through a window and later hiding inside a dark utility closet. Surveillance allegedly showed Kosowski arriving at the office on March 21, 2023, before a man matching his description later left with a heavy wagon. Inside the bathroom, investigators reportedly found blood on the toilet, walls and floor. Testing allegedly showed a mixture of Cozzi’s and Kosowski’s DNA. Police later tracked Kosowski’s truck and found Cozzi’s blood inside and outside it. When officers stopped Kosowski in Miami, prosecutors say they discovered a blood-covered ballistic vest and blood in the trunk. Then came what prosecutors called a “m*rder bag.” Inside the black duffel were allegedly lighters, a Taser, scissors, brass knuckles, a crowbar, ski masks, a Guy Fawkes mask, a syringe needle and a vial of succinylcholine — a paralytic drug prosecutors say Kosowski had researched. Prosecutors also allege Kosowski tried to destroy evidence after his arrest by repeatedly sucking and biting his fingers while sitting in a police vehicle. Investigators believe Cozzi’s remains may have ended up at a Collier County landfill, but repeated searches have failed to locate him. Kosowski dismissed his attorneys and is representing himself. His defense has challenged the prosecution’s evidence, and he has said he does not intend to present mitigation if convicted and facing a penalty phase.
