@nora.steele57: Shalini Thakur, a 38-year-old Sacramento mother, was reportedly stalked and harassed for nearly a year before she was fatally shot outside a shopping center on Sept. 8. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Rohit Rohit arrived at the shopping center shortly before Thakur was dropped off at her vehicle. He allegedly approached her and chased her through the parking lot. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Thakur running away before Rohit pulled out a firearm and shot her multiple times. When she fell, investigators said he walked over and fired another shot at close range. Rohit then fled in his vehicle. Deputies attempted to stop him on Highway 50, where he suddenly slammed on the brakes. Authorities said he died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Detectives later uncovered a disturbing history. Thakur reportedly knew Rohit because he delivered DoorDash orders from the IHOP where she worked. According to a restraining order, the alleged stalking began in September 2025. She later discovered an Apple AirTag under the hood of her vehicle. He allegedly deflated her tires, followed her to work, and once obtained a copy of her apartment key. The restraining order also alleges Rohit entered her apartment while she was sleeping and later claimed he was worried because she hadn't answered him. He also allegedly tried to pressure her into marriage. Thakur eventually obtained the order in May after deputies urged her to do so. On July 29, she reported that he had violated it by leaving random groceries at her front door. Now, her family is left mourning while investigators continue searching for answers.
