wouldn't this encourage barking? especially in higher driven breeds who constantly try to please wouldn't it make them want to bark for a reward more?

i taught speak to my last dog with this same hope but it absolutely just made him worse in mundane situations. such as during cooking or to get my attention. it’s like teaching a dog to steal a sock or jump on the bench imo. a cool command but not when they whip it out unprompted

I taught my dog to speak by saying speak and to en I would “woof” and he picked up on it 😂

my puppy knows how to speak on command but I accidentally taught him it comes with jump and I don't know how to disconnect the two. he barked at a toy that fell off the couch and I said 'yes' and gave him a treat but now every time I say speak he jumps up me when he does it. he is 11 weeks and has sharp claws.

I just blew in her face and she’d bark and then I rewarded that and slowly lessened how much I blew then added a command 🤣
