Society often pushes the narrative that a degree is the only path to success (which it may be for some), but stepping off that track allowed me to build a life I love, free from the crushing weight of student loans and a physically demanding job that would have greatly limited my voice in animal welfare. At 27, I own a home, have been with my wonderful spouse for six years, and have an amazing almost-two-year-old daughter. By following my passion for animal welfare, we built the #1 animal activist show, a thriving business that now allows both me and my husband (who holds a master's degree) to be full-time, work-at-home parents. The reality is that hard work and following your true passion will reward you far more than forcing yourself down a rigid, expected path. Don’t let anyone convince you there’s only one way to succeed. My advice, do your best to stay out of debt, hustle for what you want, dream big every day, and remember that you can always go back to school later if you ever choose to.
