a big thing with a bubble level is MAKE SURE TO USE THE RIGHT SIZE LEVEL if you leveling 55" you want a 4 foot level you should never for example use a torpedo level to level and 4 foot spand or even an 8 foot spand HOWEVER you can absolutely still use them but understand this. the ratio difference between your level and your spacing means that when you think its level if it is not perfect and I mean perfect. than its off. the small 8th you dont see on the 1 foot torpedo level suddenly becomes 4 8ths being a quarter inch off at each end which is why you gotta be danm perfect if your gonna use the wrong level. another thing is if your level is not centered you will not get a different reading but the same as before but now instead of having 2 feet on one side you have 4 feet on one side making it a half inch difference when you go from level to the end of that 4 foot span

this is why you measure level from the sides as well. you won't have this issue. unless your ceiling is actually the problem for once
