They finally figured out that ai as they want it and capitalism can't coexist because widespread Ai allows a post-scarcity society, while capitalism creates and requires scarcity. If everyone has access to free or cheap labor, no one will allow themselves to be explored by the billionaire class

If written today it would be: Well these AI companies, without full governmental regulation, were stupid enough not to create artificial environments for AI testing which were completely air-gapped from the world's internet. They want to slow it down because they haven’t solved the revenue problem yet, and they know if they IPO their investors will dump stock causing their value to plummet, and scaring away any new investment. If they can put off their IPOs they might find new investors and give themselves time to solve the revenue problem.
