September 15th is the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, and today's readings hit different. First Reading (1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27-31a): You're not just "part of a church." You are a living part of Christ's own Body, and the Church literally does not work without your gift. Psalm (Psalm 100:1b-5): "We are his people: the sheep of his flock." Belonging comes before performing. Read that again. Gospel (John 19:25-27): Nearly everyone ran from the Cross. Mary STOOD. Then Jesus said "Behold, your mother," and a grieving woman and a heartbroken disciple became the first family of the Church. Alternate Gospel (Luke 2:33-35): 30 years earlier, an old man told Mary a sword would pierce her soul. She said yes to motherhood anyway. Her sorrow wasn't wasted. Neither is yours.
