Malaika Chitre and Navam Kaul, both 24 and from New Jersey, were close friends who had recently graduated from Rutgers University in 2024. Kaul allegedly fell or walked onto the tracks, prompting Chitre to go down and try to help him. Investigators are looking into whether the pair was intoxicated and didn't understand the gravity of the situation, according to sources.
