The patients only have this reaction if the reglan is pushed too fast and/or not diluted. I always mix it with 10cc NS and push it super slow into the iv tubing not directly into the iv port. I have been an er nurse for 10 years and have never had a patient have a reaction to reglan. Sometimes I will even put it in a 50 bag if they’ve had that reaction before.

No seriously, Reglan and Compazine should ALWAYS be diluted and HUNG. I also won’t push haldol without orders to dilute. Even if I just throw it in a flush. I know what that feels like and I don’t want anyone to ever feel like that!!
