I’ve heard psychologists say most serial killer’s kill within their comfort zone so if he’s not married then he probably grew up around there or has spent majority of his life there so he’s familiar with the area and knows how to escape if he ever gets caught. A new place would mess up his whole routine which would lead to him being caught.

He is a serial killer because he wants those bodies to be found .He wants his work to be seen .He could have simply buried these bodies away from people eg . A bushy place or field .
