🚀 FIRST START — OM613 x BALDUR’S DID1 ECU From a Mercedes OM613 diesel engine to our BMW E46 PRO Drift Project — this is where mechanical engineering, motorsport electronics and proper ECU calibration come together. 🔧🔥 Today we reached an important milestone: the first successful start of the OM613 running on Baldur’s DID1 standalone ECU. This is far more than just making an engine run. The real challenge is building the complete control strategy from scratch: ⚙️ Crank & cam synchronization ⚙️ Diesel injection timing and quantity control ⚙️ Rail pressure management ⚙️ Boost control strategy ⚙️ Torque-based engine control ⚙️ Sensor calibration & plausibility checks ⚙️ CAN communication and ECU configuration ⚙️ Idle control, starting strategy and protection logic And this is only the beginning. The goal is to transform this OM613 into a properly controlled, motorsport-oriented powerplant for our E46 PRO Drift Project, with full control over the parameters that matter when reliability, response and performance are pushed to the limit. But what makes this project even more interesting is that we are not only building the car — we are using it as a real-world development platform for ECU tuning education. 🎓 Baldur’s ECU Tuning Course is coming, where we will go deep into the actual process behind standalone ECU calibration, diesel engine control, wiring, first startup, troubleshooting, torque modeling, fuel and boost strategies, logging and advanced tuning methodology.
