@odo.ichon: Ever been on vacation somewhere and thought to yourself “I could see myself living here” We left Korea to see if the U.S. is better (for us) PART 6: Vacation bias
Loved living in Korea but I would never subject my child to that education system! My wife is traumatized.

My parents did the opposite! We moved to the US because my mother didn’t want my brother and I to be in the Korean school system, so we would go home to Korea with the help of family every year no matter how little money we had. I’d always spend 3 months a year in Korea. I was so lucky to spend time in both worlds, and I consider both countries home. Where you settle most is going to be unique to your family but no matter what your kids will have amazing memories and connections to both sides of the world from this experience.

You should always do what is best for you and your family, not what feels right based on a small amount of time. I hope you had a good summer and the rest of the year is just as good.

I moved from Canada to Mexico three years ago and I was back in Canada this year for two months in the summer and it reminded me how much I love Mexico and couldn’t wait to get back.

Exactly that....I felt like I had to live in the States and belonged there since I was a child, I studied history, language, literature...then I visited my relative for a month...finally felt at home, but saw the reality of it, a few years later moved there for love and boyyyyyy....resisted living there for 4 years...before moving away..and would not move there anymore.

Lake property in the US. Im sold. I would love to live in South Korea the adventure aline would be amazing but also my dream home is a home with a lake. You can live in rural America and still be within driving distance of a store with anything you may need.

I want korea to work out for your family so bad. But regardless of what happens its always the right decision if you do the adventure together.

After living in the US for 43 years, even though immigrating to Korea has its challenges, the benefits are so much higher. I could not afford to live the life I want in the US, and of course the rising fascism in the US is concerning.

The USA is nice to visit for the Summer but it’s not safe, the Trump years have caused many many changes and none of them are good. Enjoy your summer and return back to Korea

despite the awful politics, the US might be healthier for mental health, balance, and raising kids in a more gender egalitarian environment
