I feel you, and I think knowing too much and being a grown ass adult is part of the reason for all this, unfortunately. Most of the people who feel this way are the ones who genuinely care about their families, friends, the people around them, and the country as a whole. We know the mess we are in, but we feel like we cannot do anything about it. We have become powerless. I am not that spiritual either, but about the feeling you experienced at church, I do not think it was all delusion. I know what is happening in some Ethiopian churches today. Sometimes, even people who do not know God or consider themselves religious do not do the kind of injustice or harm to their fellow brothers and sisters that we see from some people in the church. But despite all of this, and despite my own mess and struggles, I still choose to believe in God. You should too. The Holy Spirit really can bring comfort and joy even when you have nothing. I think that is what you felt before. I do not think it was just delusion. It is a different kind of joy, one that does not come with that dopamine drop feeling afterward.
