hear hear!!!!! we really need to be kinder bc the way people consume art and media in the PH is deeply influenced by economic realities. instead of being condescending toward those who start with mainstream content, we should make the conversation more welcoming and find ways to encourage more filipinos to explore and support local artists!

Not only they have financial advantage, they also have more TIME to explore different options. For a lot of people who are just barely surviving, we seek art/media/other forms of pleasure by grabbing whatever is the most accessible kase sandali lang pahinga namin, wala nang time mag-explore. Hindi yan maintindihan ng mga elitistang nagjujudge sa mga taong mahilig sa mainstream media/products. Nothing wrong with having a "well-informed" or "niche" taste as long as you mind your own business.

same aspect to those people who just want to channel aesthetically pleasing fashion or IG worthy then bash kids or teenager along the highway saying their fashion sense is baduy or geng geng. di lahat kaya makabili ng maayos na damit, di lahat nabibigyan ng sapat. minsan kung ano lang meron sila yun lang.

Yes! Also interest is better than nothing at all. This is why we have communities so we have a space to discuss about books which the purpose is to SHARE or RECOMMEND not "force" and cause heated arguements.
