As someone who works in accounting, the degree should not be as hard as it is. College accounting and real accounting are not the same.

As an accountant, you are learning everything you are learning for a reason making the effort to understand it will pay you dividends in the future. Sure software can help, but what if the software is wrong? What if the inputs are wrong? You are there to use judgement, analyze, and critically think about the output. Software is a tool, not a crutch and that’s the difference between good accountants and bare minimum accountants. Yes accounting class is hard but it’s not supposed to be easy. Rise up to the challenge.

I feel like many professors also don’t know how yo teach accounting. Once you learn accounting it’s hard to think like a beginner and explain to them.

Intermediate accounting killed me. Like it rewired me as a person. But I was in too deep to switch. I’m now a fund accountant and I love it!

Cost accounting was my most difficult class and I even worked in accounting for a company that manufactured equipment so I was around cost accounting at work. It’s truly a different beast. I’m now an accountant in government and I truly don’t understand why college accounting courses were so hard because in real life applications it isn’t AS difficult (still difficult but not like the classes)

Girl it was government & nonprofit that really almost pushed me over the edge to quit. I always say that one is enough to make a grown man cry & I have completely refused to even get in to that industry to this day 😭😭😭
