In this video, Earth and Rights Initiative Uganda explains UNEP’s new Limiting Overshoot report in simple language. The Earth is already nearing 1.4°C of long-term warming. UNEP warns that the world is likely to cross 1.5°C within the next few years. But remember: ✅ 1.5°C remains the goal. ❌ 1.8°C is not a new target. 🌡️ Overshoot means going above 1.5°C temporarily, limiting how high temperatures rise, and working to bring them back down. For Uganda, additional warming can mean harsher heat, unpredictable rainfall, floods, droughts, crop losses, water shortages, health risks and higher food prices. Every 0.1°C matters.
