Husband Stabs Wife 13 Times to Death Over Jealousy KULIM: A woman was stabbed to death — allegedly by her husband — who attacked her 13 times with a folding knife at their home in Taman Tiram, Kulim Hi-Tech, last night. The attack is believed to have been driven by jealousy. Kulim District Police Chief, Superintendent Syamsul Sinring, said the 43-year-old suspect turned himself in at the Lunas Police Station around 8:40pm and admitted to stabbing his 39-year-old wife at their home in Taman Tiram. He added that the suspect also surrendered the folding knife believed to have been used in the attack. "The incident took place in the master bedroom of their single-storey terrace home, shared by the suspect, the victim, and their three-year-old child. "Forensic examination revealed apparent bloodstains on the mattress sheet, pillow, headboard, and several items on the bed. "A forensic team from the Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters arrived at the scene and collected 11 samples for investigation," he said in a statement today. According to Syamsul, preliminary inquiries indicate the attack stemmed from an argument between the couple over jealousy. "The suspect admitted to stabbing the victim 13 times — seven wounds to the chest, five to the abdomen, and one to the right side — using a folding knife. "After the attack, the suspect bathed, collected their child from the childminder, and handed the child over to his sister at the Juru Rest and Relaxation (R&R) area in Penang. "He informed his sister that he had stabbed his wife, before proceeding to the Lunas Police Station to surrender," Syamsul explained. The victim was taken to Kulim Hospital by family members and pronounced dead at 9:30pm. The suspect was arrested by officers from the Kulim District Criminal Investigation Department at the Lunas Police Station at 9:00pm. "A folding knife measuring approximately 20 centimetres was seized as evidence. Initial interviews with neighbours found they did not hear any quarrelling, apparently due to heavy rain at the time of the incident. "The suspect, a resident of Parit Buntar, Perak, is unemployed. Preliminary urine screening confirmed he was drug-free and has no prior criminal record," Syamsul said. The victim’s body has been sent to the Forensics Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination. Investigations so far point to jealousy and domestic conflict as the motives behind the stabbing.
